Spring Forward: Mastering Transitional Work Wear in Cold Weather

Spring on our minds

Here at the shop, we've fully entered into Spring mode! The racks are full of new colours and we're looking forward to the season ahead. However, right outside our windows it's still -30 degrees and we're freezing! With our minds further ahead than the temperature, dressing for the transitional weather becomes a challenge and can bring on a styling slump.

Spring fashion is often synonymous with bright colours and lightweight fabrics, but the lingering cold temperatures call for a different approach. Let's explore dressing for spring while the weather is still chilly, focusing on the use of layers, brightening up your look, and incorporating stylish yet practical elements.

Transitional Spring Work Wear

Layers for Versatility

One of the key strategies for navigating the unpredictable Spring weather is mastering the art of layering. Opt for a stylish and functional combination of lightweight pieces that can easily be added or removed as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day.

Start with a basic long-sleeved shirt or a light sweater as a base layer, and then add a chic blazer or cardigan for extra warmth. This not only keeps you comfortable but also allows you to adapt to changing conditions effortlessly.

Introducing Green and Navy Hues:

While spring often conjures images of pastel tones, introducing vibrant colour into your wardrobe can instantly elevate your look. This time of year we like to mix our winter neutrals with some colour to give them new life.

Navy and green are both trending hues for this spring transitional collection and we're loving it! These colours evoke a sense of freshness and playfulness, making them perfect for transitioning from Winter to Spring. Whether it's a green apple sweater or a navy blazer, these hues will seamlessly blend into the next season.

Transitional Footwear

Our top tip for creating a finished, cohesive outfit is to bring indoor shoes for the office. Trying to find an option that is practical for snow and completes a dressy outfit is impossible. Wear a practical snow boot for your commute, but change once you're at work!

Ballet flats, loafers, a dressy sneaker like an Adidas Samba are great choices. We are still seeing lots of metallic for Spring 2024 and these silver flats add a great trendy spin on a classic shoe.

Chic Trousers for Effortless Style

While skirts and dresses are quintessential spring attire, chic trousers are a practical and stylish alternative during these colder days.. Opt for tailored, wide leg or straight leg trousers, pairing them with a tucked-in blouse or sweater for a polished and put-together look.

It can be hard to find the right fit in trousers, but we highly recommend finding a good tailor to get your pieces altered. A small change like hemming the length makes a big difference in the overall look. Don't be afraid to size up and take in the waist as necessary!

Trousers can be just as comfortable as jeans and can do double duty on your days off - wear with a crew neck sweatshirt and sneakers topped off with an oversized coat for a street style look.

Sweaters: Cozy and Stylish

Even as Spring blooms, a cozy sweater remains a wardrobe essential. Opt for a brighter knit to infuse a touch of Spring into your ensemble. Throw a sweater over your shoulders to keep you warm at your desk. These versatile pieces can be paired with skirts, trousers, or jeans, making them a wardrobe staple for the transitional season.

Embrace the changing season with a wardrobe that effortlessly transitions from the last remnants of winter to spring. By incorporating these tips, you'll not only stay warm and stylish but also be ready to welcome the new season!
