Behind the Seams of Our Summer Club Collection

We’ve been creating our own in-house collections for five years now, and it’s still such an incredible process to watch unfold. From concept to creation, seeing our ideas come to life step by step is something we cherish deeply and we want to share that experience with you. It means so much to our little team.

From the very first lightbulb moment of inspiration, through the design phase, the meticulous cutting and sewing, all the way to the moment the piece reaches your hands, we want to share every step of this incredible process with you.

Our Summer Club Collection has been in the works for quite some time, and it feels extra special. Every one of us on the team resonates with these pieces and we’ve all craved that perfect linen matching set for summer. Honestly, sometimes it feels like we share one brain.

Inspired by the laid-back charm of an Italian seaside beach club, each piece was designed to evoke the breezy elegance of Mediterranean summers. These are the go-to pieces we envision you reaching for all season long. Whether you're running errands in the city or spending a slow weekend at the lake, our goal was to create styles that stay classic and effortless for years to come.

The crisp hues of this collection are reminiscent of sun-drenched terraces and coastal views. It’s safe to say we were heavily inspired by our own daydreams of that idyllic European summer.

We were completely inspired by all the linen we’d been seeing this season and simply couldn’t resist the swatches we were provided. We were on the hunt for the perfect linen short set and thought, “Let’s just make it ourselves!” And here we are.

A navy linen swatch immediately caught our eye with the perfect amount of depth. We also brought back an azure blue from an earlier Mad Collection that remains one of our all time favourites. And then a delicious, warm chocolate brown popped out at us, and we were sold. Choosing the colours might just be our favourite part.

Design-wise, the sets came together so naturally. We knew we wanted a scooped hem on the top, a slightly longer fit through the body, and a button detail at the cuff. For the shorts, a longer length was key to making them feel elevated and versatile. Of course, a stretchy elastic waistband for all-day comfort was a no-brainer.

Once we had the design in our minds, it was time to transform that idea into a product!

This step is arguably the most exciting!

What makes this collection even more meaningful is that production happened right here in our hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Designing and manufacturing in Canada was a top priority for us, and we’re incredibly proud to offer you pieces that are truly homegrown.

We’ve partnered with GarmaTech - a Canadian, women-owned manufacturing and design company. Their team is absolutely phenomenal, and their values align so closely with our own. We’re beyond grateful to work with them. It makes every piece feel even more special.

Our social media manager, Chelsea, was lucky enough to visit the GarmaTech team last week and capture some amazing behind the scenes content of the production process. It was so inspiring to see everything come to life.

Rose, Susan, Inderjit, and Shelley - the owner, were each working on different parts of the collection, which was so cool to witness. Inderjit was busy sewing our Espresso colourway linen shirts, while Rose and Susan were assembling the shorts in various shades. Shelley was putting together the first draft of our new Everywhere Tote Bag, and Chelsea got to watch it all come together in real time. It was surreal.

We take immense pride in knowing our collections are made with care, intention, and teamwork. We always strive to make sure every person who walks into our shop feels like they’ve stepped into their best friend's closet. That feeling is only heightened when the pieces you’re trying on have been designed, crafted, and manufactured with so much heart.
